Week #13 OBITUARIES?

AND THE WINNER (ehem) WHINER IS... ME!

Out of my four contenders last week, only one had enough gumption to do anything. I am suspecting performance enhancement drugs. Hairy Vetch, Lima Bean, Red Clover, and Black-Eyed Pea were put to the test against eight antibiotics. I went to lab on Tuesday and discovered that six out of my eight plates had no growth on them at all. Hairy Vetch did show resistance to several of the antibiotics which is great; however, by itself offers no comparison to the other potential strains. Had I received results from all four contenders, it would have been easier to compare and contrast the different species.

It gets worse... although rhizobium sp. is not fond of the starch in the Mueller Hinton media and consequently may not grow well in it, it is highly possible that my strains have died; which would mean that approximately 12 weeks of work for not. I am going to attempt to run my final test on Monday. I can only hope that my project yields more data.

Happy Thanksgiving, all legumes brought to you buy, you got it...rhizobium sp.
