Well, it’s the last week of blogging for the semester and
let me tell you it’s been a wonderful journey with you guys. First and
foremost, I would like to congratulate Setareh on placing at the conference.
You have a lot to proud of! Nice work! Also, to my fellow presenters, I thought
we did an amazing job today. I appreciate your level of professionalism and
your interactions with faculty, honor students, and guests today. I think we
had an excellent showcase for Phoenix College and boy did we REPRESENT! Also,
none of this would have happened without the hard work of Amanda Chapman, Matt,
and Josh, and the lab technicians and other professors affiliated with our
projects. So, thank you!
Now, we just have our final paper, a week of finals, and our
final presentation at Metro-Tech. I know we are going to push though this and
finish successfully. Although many of us didn't place today, I think it was an
excellent opportunity to showcase our talents and expertise on our projects. I
was ecstatic on how interested a couple of my judges were with my project. I
really have many take-aways from their comments, questions, and
suggestions. I look forward to
continuing my research and expanding on some interesting thoughts and
information I received from the conference.
I know some of you are graduating, so I won’t see you next
semester. I wish you all the best in all of your future pursuits of a higher
and education and academic endeavors. Remember, if it were easy, everyone would
do it. So, wherever your paths may take you, when you have a chance reflect on
what path you have taken to arrive at your current destination and where you
want to be in five years and what path you will need to take to achieve that.
Whenever someone asks me what I want to be when I grow up, I always say I don’t
know, but I want to be in a position that will allow me to look back and
witness that I have progressed, learned, and achieved milestones along the way.
Before signing off, I just want to reiterate how much I have
learned this semester. From operating the autoclave and pouring agar plates to
preparing my own stock bacteria cultures and inoculating bacteria, I have truly
had a scientific transformation and I am grateful for that. Well, I leave you
with a picture of my project. Once again congrats!
P.S. Thanks Dijana for proving us with transportation to and
from events; I know it’s taking you out of the office and you are sacrificing
that time for us.
